It passes thru Northeast Arkansas on the BNSF South Thayer Subdivison. It was about 70 miles west of Memphis, outside of a little town called Hoxie, AR. At 4:45PM on June 25, 2005 it had just crossed HWY. 90 at U.S. 63 when the Engineer and Conductor reported hitting a sun kink in the rail. It was only around 100 degrees that day. The lead unit was BNSF 6892, CSXT 4402, BN 9252, and last BNSF 6847. The lead unit stayed upright while the others went in a ditch next to U.S.63. Twenty five freight cars derailed. | |
